Dabangg 2 collects record Rs21cr on opening day


Dabangg 2, the sequel to 2010 Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg has managed to surpass the opening day collections of the original movie. It amassed Rs21.10 crore in India on the day of its release.
The movie starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, which hit screens Friday, is the directorial debut of actor-producer Arbaaz Khan. Opening up to packed houses, Dabangg 2 managed to rake in Rs21.10 crore on the opening day itself, surpassing the first day collections of even Akshay Kumar's Rowdy Rathore, which earned Rs15 crore. It is said to one of the highest opening for any non-holiday release in Bollywood till date. It was a non-holiday release too.
The original Dabangg was directed by Abhinav Kashyap, and it had managed to rake in Rs14.5 crore on its first day, nationally.

Katrina Kaif reveals how foriegn upbringing helped her in India!

Unlike many other Bollywood actresses,Katrina Kaif had to work harder to make it to the top in the industry. Many feel that Katrina's foreign upbringing is a hurdle between the actress and the hindi film industry, due to the language and adaptability factors. But, Kats thinks the other way.

Talking to a leading daily, Katrina said that foreign upbrining have helped her a lot in life. It's not a problem, rather it made her "extremely adaptable" in India.

Kaif is from British origin and she had travelled to several countries during her childhood. Due to this, it is said that Katrina had to struggle a lot in Bollywood to learn hindi and to adapt into the Indian culture. But, as it is said that hard work pays one day. So did happen with Kaif after she made it to the league of top 5 actresses in Bollywood.

Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are 2012's most downloaded celebs in India

As 2012 winds down, mobile companies come out with the ultimate data of the year. Bollywood stars, Katrina Kaif and Shahrukh Khan top the list and become the most downloaded celebrities of the year, reports Hindustan Times on Dec.6.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa shared the data on their Facebook and Twitterpages. The data collected reveals the preferences of over 186 million mobile customers in India.



N Rajaram, Chief Marketing Officer, Consumer Business of Bharti Airtel said, "Over the last four years, Airtel Mobitude has captured the behavior of the mobile consumers to provide real insights on customer preference for sports and entertainment.

The data, based on the usage pattern of the country’s largest mobile customer base, reveals an exciting picture of India’s love for movies, music, gaming and social networking. The study also brings to light India’s increasing dependence on smart devices and data usage as they access a whole host of new services on the go.”

The “Chikni Chameli” star, Katrina Kaif topped the chart for the fourth consecutive year, followed by contemporaries Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka and Vidya Balan.

Shahrukh Khan led in the category of Bollywood actors' wallpaper downloads, with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor in the top five. Aamir Khan did not make it in the top cut for the third year in a row.

Kim Kardashian led in the category of images downloaded and also featured in the top five Hollywood celebrities.

Katrina's images most wanted on mobile phones

Katrina Kaif is this year's reigning queen as far as downloads on mobile phones of images of an actress are concerned. It is the fourth consecutive year that the "Chikni chameli" star has topped the category.

Katrina is followed by Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Vidya Balan for the actress with most images downloaded on mobile, according to the findings of Airtel Mobitude 2012.

Among men, Shah Rukh Khan led in the category of Bollywood actors' wallpaper downloads. Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor featured in the top five.

So Who's The Best Khan, Katrina?

The 28-year-old star rather feels that this aspect of her life has made her personality 'extremely adaptable' to varied shades of cultures. 'I have been to 8-9 countries during first 12 years of life. This has made me extremely adaptable,' said Katrina, who was here last evening to launch the website Gitanjalishop.com of jewellery brand Gitanjali.

'It is difficult to answer who is the best... But yes, the common thing among them is talent and stardom,' said Katrina. Dubbing the 'top place' as a 'different altitude', Katrina said she was never under pressure to be on the top. 

'Frankly, I don't feel very much to be on top slot. Besides doing professional work, I prefer to be in company of my friends, most of whom are not actors,' she said, She added that there was no relevance of the concept of male dominance in the film industry and all what is needed is good and professional work. 

Katrina revealed her plans of shooting for her new film in Delhi in coming February, besides adding that a lot of effort is being put in to make 'Dhoom 3' a big success. 

Katrina most downloaded celeb for 4th consecutive year

Katrina Kaif has seen off competition from Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to emerge as the most downloaded celebrity on mobile phones in the year 2012.

The 'Ek Tha Tiger' star continued to maintain the leading position in the category of images downloaded for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Kareena, Priyanka, Anushka Sharma and Vidya Balan, according to the findings of Airtel Mobitude 2012.

Shah Rukh Khan led in the category of Bollywood actors' wallpaper downloads, with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor in the top five. Aamir Khandid not fare in this list for the third year in a row.

South India showed a strong traction for imagery, with Tollywood sensation Trisha seeing downloads 325 per cent higher than the numbers seen for top 5 Bollywood actors put together.

Popular song 'Kolaveri Di', continued to maintain the top position in 2012 as well. Though reasonably popular, the worldwide rage 'Gangnam Style' did not experience similar success among mobile internet users in India and could not beat Kolaveri Di's strong local success.

The song 'Teri Meri' from 'Bodyguard' ranked second in this segment, lagging behind by 20 per cent.

'Dabangg' topped charts as the most viewed movie on Airtel Video Talkies, while 'Singham' led on Airtel Audio Talkies.

Epic hit 'Sholay' continues to be an all-time favorite with customers, who till date, are tuning into the audio edition of the movie on Airtel Audio Talkies.

Movie inspired games are the new rage in mobile gaming - 'Agneepath', 'Spiderman' and 'Agent Vinod' games topped charts and left behind popular games Tekken and SoulCalibur.

In the Hollywood segment, Kim Kardashian led in the category of images downloaded and also featured in the top five Hollywood celebrities, followed by Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie.

'Chikni Chameli' from 'Agneepath' became the top downloaded Bollywood song, followed by 'Gun Gun Guna' and 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' from the same film.
