Dabangg 2 collects record Rs21cr on opening day

Dabangg 2, the sequel to 2010 Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg has managed to surpass the opening day collections of the original movie. It amassed Rs21.10 crore in India on the day of its release.

The movie starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, which hit screens Friday, is the directorial debut of actor-producer Arbaaz Khan. Opening up to packed houses, Dabangg 2 managed to rake in Rs21.10 crore on the opening day itself, surpassing the first day collections of even Akshay Kumar's Rowdy Rathore, which earned Rs15 crore. It is said to one of the highest opening for any non-holiday release in Bollywood till date. It was a non-holiday release too.

The original Dabangg was directed by Abhinav Kashyap, and it had managed to rake in Rs14.5 crore on its first day, nationally.

Katrina Kaif reveals how foriegn upbringing helped her in India!

Unlike many other Bollywood actresses,Katrina Kaif had to work harder to make it to the top in the industry. Many feel that Katrina's foreign upbringing is a hurdle between the actress and the hindi film industry, due to the language and adaptability factors. But, Kats thinks the other way.

Talking to a leading daily, Katrina said that foreign upbrining have helped her a lot in life. It's not a problem, rather it made her "extremely adaptable" in India.

Kaif is from British origin and she had travelled to several countries during her childhood. Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are 2012's most downloaded celebs in India

As 2012 winds down, mobile companies come out with the ultimate data of the year. Bollywood stars, Katrina Kaif and Shahrukh Khan top the list and become the most downloaded celebrities of the year, reports Hindustan Times on Dec.6.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa shared the data on their Facebook and Twitterpages. The data collected reveals the preferences of over 186 million mobile customers in India.

N Rajaram, Chief Marketing Officer, Consumer Business of Bharti Airtel said, "Over the last four years, Airtel Mobitude has captured the behavior of the mobile consumers to provide real insights on customer preference for sports and entertainment.

The data, based on the usage pattern of the country’s largest mobile customer base, reveals an exciting picture of India’s love for movies, music, gaming and social networking. The study also brings to light India’s increasing dependence on smart devices and data usage as they access a whole host of new services on the go.”

The “Chikni Chameli” star, Katrina Kaif topped the chart for the fourth consecutive year, followed by contemporaries Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka and Vidya Balan.

Shahrukh Khan led in the category of Bollywood actors' wallpaper downloads, with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor in the top five. Aamir Khan did not make it in the top cut for the third year in a row.

Kim Kardashian led in the category of images downloaded and also featured in the top five Hollywood celebrities.

Katrina's images most wanted on mobile phones

Katrina Kaif is this year's reigning queen as far as downloads on mobile phones of images of an actress are concerned. It is the fourth consecutive year that the "Chikni chameli" star has topped the category.

Katrina is followed by Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Vidya Balan for the actress with most images downloaded on mobile, according to the findings of Airtel Mobitude 2012.

Among men, Shah Rukh Khan led in the category of Bollywood actors' wallpaper downloads. Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor featured in the top five.

So Who's The Best Khan, Katrina?

The 28-year-old star rather feels that this aspect of her life has made her personality 'extremely adaptable' to varied shades of cultures. 'I have been to 8-9 countries during first 12 years of life. This has made me extremely adaptable,' said Katrina, who was here last evening to launch the website Gitanjalishop.com of jewellery brand Gitanjali.

'It is difficult to answer who is the best... But yes, the common thing among them is talent and stardom,' said Katrina. Dubbing the 'top place' as a 'different altitude', Katrina said she was never under pressure to be on the top. 

'Frankly, I don't feel very much to be on top slot. Besides doing professional work, I prefer to be in company of my friends, most of whom are not actors,' she said, She added that there was no relevance of the concept of male dominance in the film industry and all what is needed is good and professional work. 

Katrina revealed her plans of shooting for her new film in Delhi in coming February, besides adding that a lot of effort is being put in to make 'Dhoom 3' a big success.

Katrina most downloaded celeb for 4th consecutive year

Katrina Kaif has seen off competition from Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to emerge as the most downloaded celebrity on mobile phones in the year 2012.

The 'Ek Tha Tiger' star continued to maintain the leading position in the category of images downloaded for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Kareena, Priyanka, Anushka Sharma and Vidya Balan, according to the findings of Airtel Mobitude 2012.

Shah Rukh Khan led in the category of Bollywood actors' wallpaper downloads, with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor in the top five. Aamir Khandid not fare in this list for the third year in a row.

South India showed a strong traction for imagery, with Tollywood sensation Trisha seeing downloads 325 per cent higher than the numbers seen for top 5 Bollywood actors put together.

Popular song 'Kolaveri Di', continued to maintain the top position in 2012 as well. Though reasonably popular, the worldwide rage 'Gangnam Style' did not experience similar success among mobile internet users in India and could not beat Kolaveri Di's strong local success.

The song 'Teri Meri' from 'Bodyguard' ranked second in this segment, lagging behind by 20 per cent.

'Dabangg' topped charts as the most viewed movie on Airtel Video Talkies, while 'Singham' led on Airtel Audio Talkies.

Epic hit 'Sholay' continues to be an all-time favorite with customers, who till date, are tuning into the audio edition of the movie on Airtel Audio Talkies.

Movie inspired games are the new rage in mobile gaming - 'Agneepath', 'Spiderman' and 'Agent Vinod' games topped charts and left behind popular games Tekken and SoulCalibur.

In the Hollywood segment, Kim Kardashian led in the category of images downloaded and also featured in the top five Hollywood celebrities, followed by Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie.

'Chikni Chameli' from 'Agneepath' became the top downloaded Bollywood song, followed by 'Gun Gun Guna' and 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' from the same film.

Producer Karan Johar has apparently come up with a new marketing ace for his upcoming film Agneepath, featuring Katrina Kaif in the lavani item song ‘Chikni Chameli’. The producer seems to have tied up with a pizza chain to promote the film. And the chain has come up with a special Katrina Kaif ‘Chikni Chameli’ pizza with an extra spice and mirchi added to it.

Karan Johar is quite happy with the buzz that the song has created and it is already being touted as Katrina Kaif’s best item number. She has so far done item songs in Tees Maar Khan and Bodyguard.

So even as you go “wow” listening or watching the song ‘Chikni Chameli’, you can eat it too and go “yummy”.

Once a booty-shaker, always a booty-shaker! Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif have given us two rocking item numbers of the year 2011 separately, but now they are set to feature together in what could be the mother of all item songs.

It’s no news that Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif are pairing up for Dhoom 3. What’s news is that the film will also have an item song to be picturized on both the stars.

The item song was not part of the original script but was added later on, to cash in on the rage that item numbers are becoming by dozens presently.

The said item number will reportedly be shot in March, 2012. Yash Raj Films, the presenters of Dhoom 3 are said to be in the process of finalizing a choreographer as well.

While Katrina Kaif jumped on the item song bandwagon last year with the racy track ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and is currently in the hot searches for her gyrations in ‘Chikni Chameli’, Aamir Khan showed his pelvic thrusts in the item song ‘I Hate You, Like I Love You’ in his home production Delhi Belly.

Salman Khan’s Shera shakes a leg for ‘Bodyguard’ item song

First Salman Khan’s former girlfriend, actress Katrina Kaif, was roped in for the “Bodyguard” item number and now his security aide Shera has shot for the much-talked about song.
Shera will not only feature in “Bodyguard Item Song”, but he will also be seen dancing and grooving with Salman.
“Yes, I have shot for the song with Salman bhai and all this seems like a magic. Salman bhai is such a huge star and for someone like him showing such trust in me is nothing short of a miracle,” Shera, who has been with Salman for more than 15 years, said in a statement.
“In front of the whole world, he said that this is my most trusted man. Isn’t that great?
“This is the first time I will be in front of the camera with Salman bhai doing this item song. He just showed me some dance steps and I did a lot of rehearsal before the final take. It was scary and I was nervous. I will never forget this experience,” he added.
Recently Salman had also made Shera unveil the first look of “Bodyguard”.
The film, directed by Siddique and produced by Atul Agnihotri, is a remake of the director’s 2010 Malayalam film, “Bodyguard”. It is scheduled for an Aug 31 release.

‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ earns Rs. 108 crore after 10 days

“Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, a story of the adventurous road trip in Spain of three friends, is spinning magic at the box office – grossing Rs.108 crore in 10 days.
Released by Eros International, the film starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif has earned Rs.86 crore at the domestic box office (net collection Rs.60 crore) and Rs.22 crore overseas.
The film released on over 1,800 screens.
“We are ecstatic with the audience as well as critics’ reactions to ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. The superb run of the film so far, especially across multiplexes, has superseded all expectations and we are expecting the film to continue its excellent performance in the coming week as well,” Nandu Ahuja, senior vice president (Distribution), India, Eros International Media Ltd, said in a statement.

If Katrina Kaif has wooed her audience with ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ then she is going to blow her audience with another sensational song number, ‘Dhunki’. The beautiful lass will don a rock star image in ‘Dhunki’ from ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’. Yash Raj has done a complete image makeover of the actress.

No big birthday for Katrina kaif

Actress Katrina Kaif,who will celebrate her 27th birthday on July 16, has denied media reports suggesting that she is going to have a big party this year after a gap of three years.
One may remember that in 2008, it was at Kat's birthday bash that the infamous fight between actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan took place. Talking about her plans, Kat, who was in the capital recently for a Gitanjali event, said, "I haven't planned anything yet. But there are no plans of throwing a big bash. My movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is releasing on July 15, and most likely, I will be busy promoting it.

Hrithik-Katrina smooch too hot!

After toning down Hrithik-Katrina's sizzling chemistry for a song in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, director Zoya is acting prudish again. Buzz is that she is planning to cut the steamy kiss between the duo.

Apparently the kiss is three-minutes long and is an essential part of the script. Revealing the nature of the scene, Mid Day quotes an insider: "After a severe exchange of words, Hrithik's character Arjun leaves in a Buick. Katrina (Laila) chases him on her bike. Stopping his car, she forces him out and pinning him on the bonnet, kisses him. And it's a rather long scene, about three minutes long."

"That's why Zoya is finding it difficult to decide on how much of the kiss to retain and how much to leave out," the source says.

But Zoya is still in a dilemma, which emerged after seeing their chemistry in the Ek Junoon track.

Katrina"When they saw the first cut of the song shot during the Spanish Tomatina festival, Zoya felt that the chemistry between the two actors was too much for a group song," continues the source.

Kat tried a different ride

Katrina Kaif has always had a long-standing desire of contributing in some way to a film’s post-production. Well, her wish has been fulfilled, thanks to Farhan Akhtar.

Katrina and Farhan became friends while filming for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. She was particularly impressed by Farhan’s multiple talents: he is an actor, he has already directed a few films, and he can sing. Katrina, too, wanted to try her hand at something other than acting; Farhan helped fulfil that wish.

While editing Shahrukh Khan’s next film Don 2, which Farhan has directed, Farhan let Katrina edit a small portion.

Katrina did well and edited the portion and was ‘thrilled’ after having done so.

Katrina Kaif should Do Another Item Number

After giving a successful item number, this time Katrina Kaif is all set to perform another item number in her upcoming movie ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’.

 

For her upcoming item number Katrina says, "Yes, I am shooting a full-on tapori number. It's earthy and sensuous not suggestive. I'm supposed to be dancing at a roadside dhaba."

 

Aditya Chopra, the filmmaker, wants the song to be a big hit than Shiela which was a superb one from Tees Maar Khan. Although Katrina Kaif had started shooting of ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ prior to Tees Maar Khan but due to her size zero the shooting of ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ got stuck. The movie basically revolves around Imran Khan who falls in love with his brother’s fiancée who is Katrina Kaif. The movie is expected to hit the theatres somewhere in July this year.
